Painting My Sassanid Persian Army

All the figures I used were  from Gripping Beast's excellent Sassanid Persian range with a few conversions thrown in. I have always made and painted my own banners and shield designs, for this project I used Little Big Man Studio's Sassanid Persian and Islamic Banners and Shield Tranfers designed by my friend the talented Stephen Hales of
Little Big Men Studios.

Darren and Andy at Gripping Beast and Stephen Hales at LBMS have been a fantastic help to me all through the painting of the Sassanid Persian figures. Many thanks guys. I finished the 2,000 point army some 6 weeks ago just in time for the Warhammer Ancient Battles weekend (WAB) held at Warhammer World on the 5/6 May 2007.

My Sassanid Persians fought very well at the tournement and also won best painted army.

My 2,000 point Sassanid Persian Army consists of the following:

1 Spahbedh Army General
1 Army Standard
3 Units of Royal clibanarii
1 Unit of Regular Clibanarii
2 Units of Parthian Light Cavalry
1 Indian Elephant

My intention is to add a few more units over time I already have 1 Unit of Lakhmid Arab Camel Riders.  I will also add a 36 Bowmen, 1 Unit of Lakhmid Arab Cavalry and another Indian Elephant.

All the above figures were painted with Wargames Foundry and Vallejo Model Colour.
